Raoyang grapes first to market

Updated: 2017-4-20 16:23:45

Although normal grapevines are still in the flowering phase during the spring season, grapes cultivated in greenhouses are already ripe enough to be picked and consumed.

Recently, grapes in Duanwu village, Raoyang county of Hengshui city, have been picked and sold.

Raoyang county has a total of 115,000 mu (7,666.67 hectares) of grapes cultivated in greenhouses. Greenhouse cultivation technology developed by experts from the Agricultural University of Hebei Province has helped the grapes in Raoyang county ripen around one month earlier than the same varieties of grapes grown in other places.

Grapes from Raoyang have been available to buy since late March. The ability to put the grapes on the market earlier than other producers has helped local residents increase their incomes.
