Tourists gather at a museum dedicated to the history of canals in Matou town, Fucheng county, in Hengshui city on July 19. The museum was specifically established in the summer of 2016 to promote China’s ancient canal culture to the next generation, as the Grand Canal of China was included in a world cultural heritage list in 2014. Covering an area of over 2,400 square meters, the whole museum is divided into three parts--the canal folk custom exhibition hall, figure memorial hall, and opera stage --where visitors can learn about the history and culture of the northern area of the Grand Canal of China, as well as enjoy local operas. Despite being open only one year, the museum has already attracted a large number of visitors from across China.[Photo/hebei.com.cn]
