Hengshui city in Hebei province will establish a new branch of Harrison International Peace Hospital to satisfy increasing demand for medical services in the city, Hebei Daily reported.
It was announced at a press conference held by the Health and Family Planning Commission of Hengshui on July 26.
Chinese public hospitals are divided into 10 levels, with upper first-class hospitals in the top two levels ?? Harrison International Peace Hospital will be the only upper first-class comprehensive hospital in Hengshui.
In recent years the original Harrison International Peace Hospital has not been able to satisfy the rapid growth in demand for medical services.
To solve the problem, Hengshui decided to set up a new branch of Harrison International Peace Hospital.
According to the construction plan, the new branch will occupy an area of 93.8 mu (6.25 hectares), with facilities including comprehensive outpatient and inpatient buildings, a general practitioner training base, an emergency center and an underground parking lot. It will also provide additional hospital beds for patients.
Total investment in the new hospital is expected to be around 2 billion yuan ($296.3 million).
